Colorado Blue Columbine (Aquilegia coerulea) Type: Perennial. Where to Grow it: All regions. Bloom time and height: Summer 1-2 ft. Sun/Shade: full sun to light shade. How to Grow it: Well-drained soil. Columbines do well in filtered sun under trees etc. Sow in early spring or fall. Sow on the surface, as the seed needs light to germinate. Will reseed themselves or cut back after bloom to encourage further growth. Etc: Colorado's state flower, perhaps the most graceful and ornamental of all wildflowers.
