Brighten your garden with the golden glow of California Poppies (Eschscholzia californica), the official state flower of California. These annual wildflower seeds grow vibrant orange and yellow blooms that bring a cheerful, sun-kissed look to any landscape. Drought tolerant and deer resistant, California poppies thrive in full sun and well-draining soil, making them ideal for gardens across the Western U.S. and beyond. Easy to grow, simply scatter flower seeds to plant outside and keep the soil consistently moist for 15–20 days during germination. Once established, these hardy blooms require minimal care and water. For a more abundant display, purchase multiple wildflower seed packets to expand your coverage. These non-GMO garden seeds contain no fillers, just high-quality seeds for planting flowers sourced in the USA. Perfect for gardeners of all levels, they make thoughtful gardening gifts or additions to your planting kit. Whether you're creating a pollinator-friendly patch, enhancing borders, or growing a meadow of golden blooms, California Poppies add effortless beauty and charm to any space.

Detailed Planting Instructions

Direct sow California poppy seeds in fall (best for early spring blooms) or early spring after frost, in full sun with well-drained soil. Rake the area smooth, scatter seeds, then cover very lightly (about 1/8 inch) and press down. Keep the surface lightly moist until germination in 7–14 days, then reduce watering—poppies prefer drier conditions once established. Thin seedlings to 6–10 inches apart. Avoid rich soil and fertilizer. Leave some spent blooms to form seed pods if you want them to reseed naturally.
