Add natural elegance and vibrant color to your garden with red columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) flower seeds. These striking perennials feature distinctive red and yellow blooms with delicate, nodding petals that bring charm and movement to any outdoor space. Blooming in spring and early summer, red columbines are especially loved by hummingbirds and other pollinators, making them both beautiful and ecologically beneficial. Easy to grow, simply scatter the seeds outdoors in spring and press them lightly into the soil as they need light to germinate. Keep the soil moist until seedlings emerge, typically within 21 days. Once established, these drought-tolerant plants require minimal care and will return year after year with stunning seasonal color. Sourced from non-GMO seeds with no fillers, this packet includes over 1,450 high-quality Red Columbine seeds for reliable, lasting blooms. With a typical bloom time of 60 to 90 days after planting, they’re a perfect low-maintenance choice for gardeners of all levels. Whether you’re looking to enhance shady spaces or attract pollinators, Red Columbine brings effortless beauty and natural charm to your landscape.

Detailed Planting Instructions

Plant red columbine the same way as blue columbine: sow fall for natural cold stratification or refrigerate seeds 3–4 weeks before spring sowing. Grow in part shade to sun (more sun in cooler areas) with moist, well-drained soil. Scatter seeds, press in, and keep barely covered (light helps germination). Maintain consistent moisture until sprouts emerge in about 14–28+ days. Thin to 10–12 inches apart once seedlings are a few inches tall. Water during establishment and deadhead after bloom if you want fewer volunteers, or leave some seedheads for natural reseeding.
