Transform your landscape with Texas Bluebonnets (Lupinus texensis), the classic annual and iconic Texas state flower. These planting seeds produce vibrant blue-violet blooms with white tips, perfect for adding color to any space. Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, they grow best in Texas, Oklahoma, and the Southwestern U.S. Easy to grow, simply scatter flower seeds to plant outside, keep the soil moist for 4-6 weeks during germination, then reduce watering as plants establish. If rainfall is low, water 2-3 times a week for best results. Purchase multiple wildflower seed packets for more lush coverage. These non-GMO garden seeds contain no fillers—just premium seeds for planting flowers sourced in the USA. Each seed packet is perfect for gardening gifts or adding to a gardening kit. Ideal for meadows, borders, and wild landscapes, Texas Bluebonnets bring lasting beauty while supporting bees and butterflies.

Detailed Planting Instructions

Bluebonnets are best direct sown in fall (Sept–Nov in many areas) in full sun with well-drained soil. For better sprouting, scarify seeds (lightly nick with sandpaper) and/or soak 8–12 hours, then sow and cover about 1/4 inch. Water gently and keep soil slightly moist until germination in 7–21 days, then water less—bluebonnets dislike soggy soil. Thin to 6–12 inches apart. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizer (they’re legumes and prefer lean soil). Let some seedpods dry if you want them to return next year.
